This is how the Jets should be playing every game as they have the depth, speed, skill and size to do it. |
|
|
|
Another way of looking at the Kulikov-Myers pairing would be that they each assisted on a goal, lead the pk in ice time (not giving up a goal technically) and the Jets won in a blowout. |

It was pointed out to me that due to Buff and Jmo these guys are being leaned on more. Totally true so come the return of both it will be interesting to see how Maurice manages the minutes of 5-57 |

The only real negative takeaway that I saw from the Carolina game is the Maurice really needs to put someone else as the quarterback on the first PP unit. Trouba isn't all bad once they get possession in the zone but he is absolutely terrible controlling the setup in getting them up the ice and into proper position. Absolutely brutal in fact.
Niku or Chariot would actually do a much better job until Buff and Morrissey return from injuries. Niku has the offensive awareness and Chiarot has the howitzer of a shot and with accuracy. Either would be better than Trouba. As we face some tough competition over the next five games the success of the PP may become a factoring difference. Its time to get it right. |

Okay, so, Niku would be better.
Chairot has the hockey IQ of a brick, and his passing isn’t up to par to run a PP unit. |

Hey jets fans! I've managed to make a video after a loooong process - a Hockey Day in Canada montage
If you enjoy content like this, please give it a look. If you enjoyed it, I'd really appreciate a like and share with some friends. It really helps on platforms like this when starting out to get the message out. I've been meaning to get into hockey montages and I finally got around to finishing this after weeks. It's my first edit so all constructive feedback is welcome! The first part I realize has a bit too much light editing, but the last ~1:00 has gotten some great reviews (from friends) so far.
I'm planning on making more so would love some comments. All clips were from CBC/Sportsnet and music from Metric (Dark Saturday). Thanks!

Your version is how I saw it. Aside from Myers almost doing a Steve Smith, you pretty much nail it. |

Yes, This "Favourite whipping boy in this space- Tyler Myers" biased nonsense is getting tired. Theres not many left buying it. Simply put, He's had a great season. He's also stayed 100% healthy through almost what is two full seasons. That's a major plus when we lose key guys like Morrissey and Buff. |

On to Washington. One of the things I like looking at is players sticks. I'm particular about my stick and its lie, curve style , length, and flex. As I get older I opt for more flex (Crosby set up with 75 flex) .
One of the more interesting curves out there is Kutznetsov. Probably one of the bigger curves in the league and likely just under the limit. Quite frankly, I haven't seen a stick challenge in quite a while, possibly many years in fact . Either no one is cheating any more or the coaches practically forgot about it. However, it wasn't a major rule change that caused the lull as the infraction is still a 2-minute penalty. The only call I've seen is that one this December where Zadarov handed his ( special permission 65 inch) stick to another player on his own team who didn't have special permission and the ref called a penalty for "illegal use of a stick". 63inches is the limit for regular sticks......funny. The ref was on the ball that night.
BTW....Toby was 61.5 inches, Myers is 65 inches. Laine changes his stick every powerplay because at 85-87 flex it cant take to many bends before it weakens and snaps. Scheifele changes his stick if there is so much as a wrinkle or two in the tape. Watch him in the bench shots always examining his stick for flaws. |

Honest feedback,
Poor song choice, I stopped watching as the song choice Dragged the clips down, didn’t bring life to them. I also think the clips needed to cut together faster, it was a little slow.
I applaud your effort and what you are trying to do though. Keep at it.

Myers is far from the only whipping boy in here. He’s just the one you hate the most being criticized. I can argue Trouba and Laine have seen equal or greater amount of whipping.
Myers has played well and sometimes great when his ice time and matchups are managed and he is on our third pair.
Over paying Myers and expecting him to log top four minutes all year will be a Lucic/Ladd type signing mistake!!! Signing him to a 2-3 year deal for 3-4 million and wanting him to play bottom pair and fill in on top 4 for injuries is the only option beside letting him walk. |

What is Laine's stick length? He's a tall boy, but it seems as if the butt end is generally up under his armpit. Does this contribute to his stiffness handling the puck, and poor stick battle results?....to compare, what is Buff's stick length?.... |

I believe Laine is 63 inches. Buff's is much shorter but way higher flex of about 122. Both used Warrior although I believe Laine switched to Bauer for just about every piece of equipment and for sponsorship reasons. Most Jets use Warrior as the equipment of choice though some like Buff prefer a mix of different brands. |

He was literally the worst player on the team by a substantial margin for the first 25~ games. Wasn’t he on the ice for well over half of the goals against for the longest time, too? |

No. At least not that I'm aware of over the last 5 or 6 seasons. I think Spezza used a wooden blade in that period for a while. No more splinters for the refs to clean off the ice.

Trouba has been on the ice for the rest of the goals since and no one points that out!

...and once again he was a horror show as QB in trying to get the puck up the ice on the PP.

Yeah... Trouba is our top points guy on the back end at 5v5, but he can’t run a PP for sh!t.

Rexy, stop trying to make people believe that Trouba is some 5v5 offensive juggernaut for the jets.
He has 16 points at 5v5 that's currently tied with Chiarot and Morrissey, tied for 54th amongst all defensemen.
At even strength it is boosted to 22 points, 3 more than Morrissey in 200 more minutes.
His p/60 at 5v5 is .8 tied with Myers, and behind Chiarot's .92
and p/60 at even strength is 1.05, .1 better than Chiarot at .95 |

He’s been top 4 in the NHL for points per/60 over the last 3 seasons |
